Company details

PT Sari Agro Manunggal is one of the biggest tapioca starch manufacturers in Indonesia. It is a native tapioca starch manufacturer located in Lampung province, specialised in producing tapioca starch that serves a wide range of industries. Production is sold entirely within Indonesia to food companies, including the frozen-food industry, and to non-food companies, including paper and corrugated packaging manufacturers.

The company currently serves major Indonesian paper manufacturing companies and large Indonesian food companies.

Our two main advantages

High-viscosity starch

We optimise the recipes of pressure and temperature in our procedures to produce high viscosity in starch for the papermaking and adhesive industries.

Higher yield in our area

Cassava grown in our area gives, on average, a higher percentage yield of starch than in other areas of Indonesia.

Industrial grade tapioca starch

Textile industry

Tapioca starch is used in up to three stages of textile production. It is used to douse thread so friction and fraying are reduced and thread flexibility increases, in printing on fabrics for better colour consistency and dirt protection, and in the final finishing process so printing endures.

Paper and corrugated packaging

Tapioca starch is added to the pulp before it is pressed into sheets during pulp preparation, increasing the elasticity and concentration of the paper. The starch fills the pores, smoothens the paper surface, and prevents ink from spreading when writing. Modified starch phosphate esters are used alongside it to increase the strength and thickness of papers such as calendars and cardboard boxes.

Adhesives and glue

Tapioca starch is the most prominent raw material in the production of both dry and wet glues. On contact with hot water or chemicals it becomes sticky and stays sticky. Starch used for glue must be pure and low in acidity.

Plywood

Tapioca starch is used in combination with glue in plywood production. After the wood is dried it enters the machine that spreads the glue over the entire surface of the sheet.

Pharmaceutical and medical

Tapioca starch is used as a filler in both tablets and capsules to give them strength and stability.

Animal feed

Tapioca starch is used as a binding agent in animal feed. Pregelatinized alpha starch is used for the production of eel feed.

Sweetener industries

Tapioca starch accounts for about 80 percent of the raw material for sweetener products such as glucose and fructose syrups, which are then used in the beverage industry as well as in canned fruits, jams, and other products.

Food grade starch

Food and beverage

Native tapioca starch increases strength and therefore stability, adds viscosity so it suits a wide range of food applications, and increases the concentration of many food and beverage items.

Bread, wheat noodles, and rice noodles

Tapioca starch replaces other starches to reduce production costs, because it is more cost effective than other types of starch.

Condiments and canned foods

Tapioca starch is used as a thickener. Only a small volume of starch is applied.

Hard candy

Tapioca starch is used for hardening the candies.

Ice cream

Ice cream needs starch to give it strength and stability, which is important for transportation and for maintaining the product.
